INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAWS

Intellectual Property Law includes patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. IP laws protect the product of mind.

Patent Law

Patents grant inventors the right to exclude others from making, using, offering for sale, importing, or selling the invention in the United States. And in some cases in other countries.  We have three types of patents: utility patents, design patents, and plant patents. Patents have been used to protect a multiple variety of famous inventions including the google search engine.

Copyright Law

Copyrights cover original works that exist in any tangible medium of expression. For Example: Literature, musical, movies, art works, and other intellectual works. Copyrights are granted to authors published or unpolished work.  Today Digital Media is one of the most important fields that benefits from copyright laws. You can't copy 'Taylor Swift's songs" without her permission.

Trademark Law

Trademarks include any thing (Logo, Word, Device) used to identify and distinguish goods or services and its source of those goods or services. One of the examples of trademark is "Mc Donald's Logo".

Trade Secrets

Trade secret law protects the information that belongs to a business and creates profit for that business. For example the drink recipe for "Coca-Cola".
